We worked our tails off this weekend!! Saturday we planted more yellow crookneck
squash, butternut squash, carrots (Danvers, Long Imperator #58 and Red Cored
Chantenay), and Blue Lake bush beans.
Alan tilled and mounded up some more rows and I soaked the asparagus
beans, okra and Garden Contender bush beans overnight and planted them on
Sunday. Julia helped me remove weeds,
plant seeds and water them in. It was a
fun to spend time with my sweet, incredibly helpful daughter.

We have sectioned off a section of the garden that gets too
much water to use for composting. I am
going to use the trench method described in Joy of Gardening. We have covered it with a tarp hoping that will kill off the unbelievably out of control grass and weeds.
The first two vertical rows that were planted with yellow
crookneck squash and butternut squash have germinated! Last night we had a big rain, and today it
looks like everything is still intact!
Yay! We might actually get some
vegetables out of this garden after all!!
